Cali is a city in Colombia located in the department of Valle del Cauca, southwest of Bogotá. It is famous for salsa and the large number of nightclubs in the Juanchito neighborhood. The Cathedral of San Pedro, in the old quarter, is neoclassical in style and houses pictorial works from the Quito school. Near the cathedral is the religious complex of San Francisco, from the 18th and 19th centuries. The first mass was celebrated in the chapel of La Merced after the founding of Cali in 1536.
