Uruguay is a country in South America known for its green interior and coastline lined with beaches. The capital, Montevideo, is located around Plaza Independencia, where a Spanish citadel once stood. This leads to the Old City, with art deco buildings, colonial houses and the Mercado del Puerto with many steakhouses. La Rambla is a coastal promenade with fish stalls, docks and parks.
