Wellington

Wellington, the capital of New Zealand, is located near the southernmost point of the North Island in the Cook Strait. It is a compact city that encompasses a coastal promenade, sandy beaches, a busy port, and colorful wooden houses on the surrounding hills. From Lambton Quay, Wellington's iconic red tram heads to Wellington Botanic Gardens. The strong winds that rush through the Cook Strait give it the nickname "Windy Wellington".

The Wellington Club is the oldest private club in New Zealand. It was founded in December 1841 and has a building on Terrace. Queen Victoria granted the club her Royal Charter.
