Guangzhou is a sprawling port city northwest of Hong Kong on the Pearl River. The city boasts avant-garde architecture, such as Zaha Hadid's Canton Opera House (known as the "two stones"); the box-shaped carved Canton Museum; and the iconic Canton TV Tower skyscraper, shaped like a skinny hourglass. The Chen family's ancestral temple, a complex dating back to 1894, also houses the Guangzhou Folk Art Museum.
