Newcastle upon Tyne

Newcastle upon Tyne is a university city on the banks of the River Tyne, in the northeast of England. Along with its twin city, Gateshead, it was a major center for shipbuilding and manufacturing during the Industrial Revolution. Today, it is a center for business, arts and sciences. Across the Tyne, Gateshead's modern Millennium Bridge, famous for its unique bascule span, is a symbol of both cities.
