Vilnius

Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, is known for its baroque architecture, which is particularly appreciated in the medieval old city. However, the buildings that line the streets (some cobblestone) of this district reflect diverse styles and eras, from the neoclassical Vilnius Cathedral to the Gothic St. Anne's Church. The 16th-century Gate of Dawn, which has a sanctuary with a sacred image of the Virgin Mary, once protected the entrance to the original city.
