Liège is a Belgian city located on the banks of the Meuse River, in the French-speaking region of Wallonia. For a long time, the city has been an enclave of great commercial and cultural importance. Its old town is full of medieval monuments, such as the Romanesque collegiate church of Saint-Barthélemy. The Grand Curtius Museum is located in a mansion of the s. 17th century and houses archaeological treasures and an art exhibition, while the Royal Walloon Opera has been performing since 1820.
