Beijing

Beijing, the huge capital of China, has a history that goes back 3 millennia. Still, it is known as much for its modern architecture as it is for its ancient sites, such as the Forbidden City complex, the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Nearby, on the huge pedestrianized Tiananmen Square, is Mao Zedong's mausoleum and the National Museum of China, which exhibits a vast collection of cultural relics.
