St. Louis is a large city located in Missouri, along the Mississippi River. Its iconic 192-meter-tall Gateway Arch, built in the 1960s, pays homage to early 19th-century explorations by Lewis and Clark, as well as the broader American westward expansion. Replicas of paddle steamers ply the river and offer views of the arch. In the Soulard neighborhood there are barbecue restaurants and blues music clubs.
