Detroit is the largest city in the U.S. Midwest state of Michigan. Near downtown, the neoclassical-style Detroit Institute of Arts is famous for the murals of Detroit industry painted by Diego Rivera and inspired by the city's ties to the automotive industry, which earned it the nickname "Motor City." Detroit is also the birthplace of Motown Records, whose history of musical success is on display at its original headquarters, Hitsville U.S.A.
