This Thursday, the Círculo Ecuestre received Carles Sala, former Secretary of Housing of the Government of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Emilio Zegrí, expert criminal lawyer in squatting, and Alejandro Fuentes-Lojo, UOC professor and expert lawyer in the sector real estate.

José Mª Cardellach, member of the club's board, has maintained a dialogue with all the speakers in which he has analyzed the problem of the illegal occupation of homes, which affects Catalonia with particular virulence. During the colloquium, the latest legislative proposals were also reviewed, the recently approved protocol of the Mossos d'Esquadra, and how the problem affects real estate investment.

The speakers explained to the members how the scourge of house occupations is today and what problems the owners of ocupatted properties have to deal with.

During the colloquium, legislation on housing was harshly criticized and the focus was placed on public-private collaboration so that administrations can cope with the current scenario.

Experts have also demanded that governments increase economic resources, give more power to holders and speed up the current eviction processes.

The interesting colloquium has resulted in a multitude of questions and comments from the public. The members of the Equestrian have wanted to give their opinion regarding the problem that causes so much havoc in Catalan society.
