Álvaro Echevarría, Director of the Office of the President of Telefónica and Trustee of the Telefónica Foundation, is a new member of the Círculo Ecuestre Governing Board, after being announced on May 26, 2025. The addition of the executive is part of the business institution's roadmap to further strengthen its strategic position in Catalan civil society.

Álvaro Echevarría's arrival comes just three months after the addition of Jordi García Tabernero, General Director of Public Affairs and Sustainability at Naturgy and Vice President of the Naturgy Foundation. This also follows the addition of Ramon Agenjo, President of Barcelona Global; Jordi Morral, CEO of Europastry and President of APD Catalunya; and Isabel Perea, Audit Partner at Grant Thornton. After serving as Deputy General Manager of Banc Sabadell and Head of Institutional Relations and Corporate Security at the financial institution, he joined Telefónica last April as Director of the Office of the Chairman and Trustee of the Telefónica Foundation and became a member of the Executive Committee.

Echevarría has a consolidated track record in the financial services sector and, since joining Banco Sabadell in 2002, has held various leadership positions until being appointed Deputy General Manager of the financial institution in March 2023, heading the Institutional Relations and Corporate Security area. He previously worked for Retevision and the consulting firm EY.

Enrique Lacalle, President of Círculo Ecuestre, celebrates the addition of Álvaro Echevarría to the Círculo Ecuestre Board of Directors: "Álvaro Echevarría's incorporation into the club's Board of Directors represents another step in the club's consolidation as a benchmark for business leadership. At Círculo Ecuestre, we are convinced that Álvaro Echevarría's experience, as well as his ability to generate high-value connections, will make a very significant contribution to the institution's growth and projection."
