The Círculo Ecuestre resumed its activities after Easter with a discussion led by the Mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez Llabrés, who visited the club for the first time as part of a meaningful institutional meeting. Accompanied by the president of the Círculo Ecuestre, Enrique Lacalle, the mayor held an open dialogue with journalist and lawyer Ricardo Fernández Deu, during a day that brought together prominent representatives from the political and business worlds.
The mayor's presence at the club served as a further example of the Círculo Ecuestre's role as a leading forum for the exchange of ideas between institutional, social, and economic leaders. The event was attended by prominent members of the Popular Party in Catalonia, such as Daniel Sirera, president of the PP in Barcelona, and Xavier García Albiol, mayor of Badalona.
During the discussion, the Mayor of Palma shared his strategic vision for the Balearic capital, focused on three key areas: improving security, access to housing, and urban transformation. Jaime Martínez Llabrés advocated a way of governing based on long-term planning, compatible with managing urgent matters. Among the major projects underway, he mentioned initiatives such as the remodeling of the Plaza Mayor, the restoration of the GESA building, the creation of a botanical garden, and Palma's candidacy as European Capital of Culture for 2031.
Furthermore, he addressed the city's social challenges with a technical and data-driven approach, highlighting the development of "hot maps" that allow for effective responses from public services. Regarding housing, he advocated for public-private collaboration as a way to promote new developments without renouncing social commitment.
Above all, the meeting served to strengthen institutional ties between key Mediterranean cities such as Palma and Barcelona, and to consolidate the Círculo Ecuestre as an active player in promoting these spaces for dialogue.
