The New Club of Madrid has been perhaps, since its foundation, the most distinguished recreational club in the capital of Spain. The company was founded on May 1, 1888, and is currently chaired by the Count of Valdellano.
The Club is located in the most central area of Madrid, at number two Calle de Cedaceros, although one of its facades faces Calle de Alcalá, a few meters from Puerta del Sol.
It occupies an elegant building, with four floors and French influence, designed by the notable architect Grasés y Riera (1899), and its rooms are decorated in the stately style of the turn of the century. It is made up of a maximum of five hundred members, whose entry, very restricted, is done by secret ballot.
The European and Latin American Ambassadors accredited before Her Majesty have a special regime to be able to access the Club's facilities as members.
The facilities of the society are made up of a bar, a general dining room and several private ones, a games room and a library. The cuisine is of very good quality, with well-deserved fame in Madrid.
The collective dining room only works, in principle, at lunchtime (13:30 – 15:30 hours), from Monday to Friday.
For any other type of event such as: dinners, private meals, etc. it is necessary to make the reservation in advance.
The use of a jacket and tie is mandatory.
