Aiming to "advance Hamburg's status in the world", the club has always been one of the focal points of the historic city, a place that attracts outstanding minds from the worlds of commerce, politics, culture and learning. : a "gallery of speakers" To quote the words of the famous banker Max M. Warburg at the association's founding meeting in 1922.

Since 1970, the Übersee Club has been located in the Amsinck House on the city's beautiful Neuer Jungfernstieg boulevard.
