The Círculo Ecuestre has held a colloquium featuring Toni Timoner, in a session focused on analyzing current environmental challenges and potential responses from an economic, technological, and geopolitical perspective.

The meeting also served to present the book El ecologista de derechas, written by Toni Timoner and Luis Quiroga, founders of Oikos, an environmental think tank created in 2022. The event featured Timoner, a senior economist at a financial institution in London, where he leads the team responsible for global scenarios and forecasting of economic, geopolitical, and climate risks. The work was the starting point for a reflection on sustainability, economic growth, innovation, and public decision-making.

Specifically, the colloquium was introduced by José Mª Cardellach, member of the Board of Governors of the Círculo Ecuestre, and moderated by Alejandro Fernández, president of the People's Party of Catalonia and member of the Parliament of Catalonia.

Sustainability, innovation and vision for the future

During the session, Timoner highlighted to the Club's members the need to analyze the climate challenge from a broad perspective, capable of integrating both environmental protection and the economic viability of the proposed solutions. In this sense, the colloquium allowed for reflection on the importance of anticipating future scenarios, assessing climate risks in decision-making, and promoting effective responses to a global context marked by uncertainty.

Likewise, he shared some of the main ideas of the book, which proposes an approach to the environmental debate from an economic and political perspective. During the event, the role that different ideological sensibilities can play in responding to climate challenges was addressed, as well as the need to incorporate the analysis of economic, geopolitical, and environmental risks into public reflection.

The presentation of the book also opened a space for dialogue on sustainability and how to face present challenges from approaches compatible with growth, innovation, and institutional responsibility. With this, the Círculo Ecuestre offered a new session dedicated to the analysis of one of the major current debates through the exchange of knowledge.
