Círculo Ecuestre was the setting for the presentation of the new book Sabiduría artificial: Una IA humanista, where the ethical, social, business, and governance challenges posed by artificial intelligence were addressed.

The event was presented by Enrique Lacalle, president of Círculo Ecuestre, and featured the participation of the book's authors Juan María Nin, lawyer-economist and president of Círculo de Empresarios; María José Sánchez Yago, psychologist and Telecommunications engineer; and José Luis Vázquez, founder and CEO of Creatia Life.

A reflection on intelligence, values, and responsibility

During the session, the authors addressed some of the main issues raised by the work, including the need to guide the development of artificial intelligence from a humanistic perspective and to place people, values, and responsibility at the center of this technological transformation.

The dialogue focused on the role of AI beyond its dimension as a tool, as well as its growing capacity to intervene in decision-making, conceptualization, and organizational processes. In this context, participants reflected on the importance of incorporating ethical criteria into its development and use, especially given a technology called to transform areas such as education, business, institutions, and governance.

In this regard, María José Sánchez Yago defended that “a true intelligence will ultimately be oriented toward good”, an idea that connects with the central thesis of the work and the need to incorporate ethical criteria into the development of AI. For his part, Juan María Nin stressed that “the great problem of AI is not just intelligence, but the values, the wisdom to which this intelligence will be applied.”

Throughout the meeting, the impact of artificial intelligence on the business world was also addressed, from changes in productivity to its role in decision-making bodies, compliance processes, and internal auditing. The conversation allowed attendees to gain a cross-cutting perspective on AI, combining technological knowledge, philosophical reflection, and business experience.

In closing the event, José Luis Vázquez defended the importance of approaching this transformation with prudence and perspective: “We must have peace of mind to be able to look at things with perspective, not fall into catastrophism, but understand that there is a risk and work toward minimizing that risk.”

With this session, Círculo Ecuestre offered a new space for dialogue around one of the great transformations of our time and the need to move toward a more responsible artificial intelligence oriented toward the common good.
