The Círculo Ecuestre, together with L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts, organized this Monday the conference Los secretos de las gemas ornamentales preciosas, a session dedicated to the resurgence of ornamental stones and their renewed prominence in architecture, design, and decorative arts.
The meeting featured the participation of Paul Paradis and Laetitia Gilles-Guéry, expert art historians, geoscientists, and gemologists, who offered attendees a specialized look into the universe of these gems and their cultural, artistic, and heritage value.
During the conference, the speakers explained how ornamental stones have been used throughout history not only for their beauty, but also for their chromatic richness, the diversity of their textures, and their ability to dialogue with different creative disciplines. The session allowed for an understanding of why these natural materials continue to captivate the public and maintain a prominent presence in jewelry, architecture, design, and decorative arts.
The event also served to bring the work of L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts closer to the members; an institution supported by the High Jewelry and Watchmaking Maison Van Cleef & Arpels, whose goal is to spread jewelry culture from a historical, artistic, and technical perspective. Its activities are structured around three main areas of knowledge: the history of jewelry, the universe of gemstones, and the savoir-faire of craft trades.
Founded in Paris in 1906, Van Cleef & Arpels has established itself as one of the great High Jewelry maisons, not only for its creations but also for its commitment to the transmission of knowledge and the preservation of jewelry heritage. In this context, L’ÉCOLE carries out international educational work through its permanent campuses in Paris, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Dubai, bringing the world of jewelry closer to the public from a cultural and educational perspective.
Following the conference, attendees enjoyed a cocktail reception at the Círculo Ecuestre facilities, which provided a space for gathering and exchange around art, jewelry, and knowledge.
