The Círculo Ecuestre hosted a new session of the lecture series organized in conjunction with the Penya Catalunya Debats (Catalan Debats Association). This time, the event featured Dr. Manuel Sans Segarra, a physician renowned for his work in the development of human consciousness.
The event began with a welcome from Enrique Lacalle, president of the Círculo Ecuestre, and a presentation by Jaume Llopis, a club member, who also moderated the session.

Drawing on his medical and research experience, Dr. Sans Segarra explained the close relationship between three fundamental pillars of human life: happiness, freedom, and health, which, he said, are directly determined by the level of consciousness each person achieves. “There can be no true freedom without consciousness, nor happiness without inner freedom. And when the ego dominates, physical and emotional health also suffers”, he emphasized.
The doctor defined the ego as "the false identity we construct through thought", a mental structure that separates us from our essence and pushes us to seek security, control, and approval. This mechanism, he explained, is the root of fear, anxiety, and suffering, and manifests itself with particular intensity in the face of illness or the possibility of death. "We are all afraid when we get sick, but why are we afraid?" he asked, explaining that fear is triggered by the ego.
Dr. Sans Segarra added that the ego has an external, material origin, and knows that it disappears with death. Therefore, he expressed that, in a society marked by profound self-centeredness, fear is perceived as something unpleasant, something that is not talked about and avoided. "Death has become a taboo in our society", he lamented.
Sans Segarra linked this loss of emotional and spiritual balance to an ego-based education, which prioritizes the rational mind and competition over inner development. “Children are not educated in school, they are formed”, he denounced, lamenting that the educational system teaches them to think and compete, but not to understand, manage emotions, or understand themselves. “True education should help awaken inner consciousness, not just accumulate knowledge”, he added.
From this perspective, the doctor linked superconsciousness—the ability to observe the mind without identifying with it—with true happiness and freedom. “All the violence we see is pure egocentrism. The ego is driven by opposites and will never bring happiness, only momentary pleasure”, he stated, insisting that fulfillment only comes when human beings manage to transcend the ego and reconnect with their essence.
He also addressed the relationship between mind and physical health, warning that “one minute of stress causes the immune system to decline for six hours”. According to the specialist, the disconnection between body, mind, and consciousness is one of the main causes of modern diseases.
The conference concluded with a reflection on the astral dimension and near-death experiences, in which Dr. Sans Segarra explored the perception of time and consciousness beyond the physical body. He shared testimonies from patients who, during states of deep unconsciousness, have recounted experiences that medicine has yet to fully explain. He emphasized that life takes on new meaning when one understands that consciousness is not limited to the body, but is part of a broader and deeper reality. At this point, he appealed to the need to "discover superconsciousness" as a path to freedom, happiness, and authentic health.
With this idea, he invited attendees to live with greater awareness of the present, freeing themselves from fear and the domination of the ego in order to reconnect with their deepest essence.
