This week, Círculo Ecuestre hosted a new conference as part of the Tertulias Tocqueville-Ecuestre series focused on the challenges of Spanish foreign policy. On this occasion, the main speaker was Florentino Portero, historian, expert in international relations, and senior researcher at Civismo. The event was presented by Tirso García, member of the Board of Governors of Círculo Ecuestre, and led by the professor of constitutional law Josep Maria Castellà, president of Club Tocqueville.

During the event, Portero pointed out that, despite the democratic stability achieved with the 1978 Constitution, Spain continues to face challenges in territorial organization, education, and foreign policy, where the lack of consensus has generated certain discontinuity and less international influence.

During the conversation, the role of Pedro Sánchez in Europe was also addressed, highlighting his capacity in the community sphere, although with possible changes in his influence and differences in approach compared to other countries. Finally, it was mentioned that some positions in Spanish foreign policy have caused concern in certain international sectors, warning of possible long-term effects on foreign relations.
